I’d been waiting to hit the beach ever since I moved to Florida, but one thing or another would come up and I’d have to put it off again. Finally I got my chance. I packed my suntan lotion, towel, umbrella and a steamy book into my sand proof bag and set it by the door. I rummaged through my drawers and found my bikini. I loved the way it looked on my body. My curves were left to tempt anyone who dared look at me. I felt so incredibly sexy in it. I twirled a few times in front of the mirror to make sure I looked all right. Once I was satisfied I threw on a tank top and a pair of my jogging shorts. I slipped on my sandals, picked up my bag and was out the door. I purposely left my cell phone tucked safely away in my desk drawer. Nothing was going to stop the day I had planned for myself.

I found the perfect spot on the sand and laid out my towel. I watched the families play in the ocean and couples rub lotion on each other as I stripped down to my purple bikini. I rubbed the cocoa nut scented oil onto my body and noticed there was a lifeguard center not too far from where I sat. “Oh good, at least I won’t die of sun stroke.” I laughed to myself as I lay down on my tummy. I cracked open my book; I had left off at the ‘good part’ earlier cause I wanted to have complete focus for it. As I read on I found myself getting excited, turned on. Valerie carefully slid her fingers across the bumps that protruded from the pages on her book, occasionally stopping to pick up the micro cassette recorder to make some notes for tomorrow’s world history class!!! Every so often she would also reach down and scruff Sparky’s ears just to reassure herself that he was still there by her side, because having been blind from birth, Valerie’s life line to the outside world had at first been her parents and siblings, but as she became older and more mature, those duties were turned over to her trusty guide dog who not only gave her mobility, but also became the best friend she ever had!!! There were several other blind students at the university, and while you would have thought they would have banded together to commiserate or for companionship, just the opposite was the case as they all tried to blend in with the normal campus life!!! Valerie was just about finished with her reading, and since the library was about to close anyway, she began packing up her study materials before heading back to her dorm when all at once she sensed someone else sitting down at her table!!!

“Who’s there,” she asked while zipping up her back pack!?! “I thought you blind guys were supposed to have these hightened senses that figured these things out,” the young man teased!!! “Dale,” she replied happily, “how have you been!?!” “Real good,” he said, “and I might say that you’re looking very pretty tonight, my dear!!!” “Why thank you, kind sir,” she said in a mocking tone, “care to walk me back to my room!?!” “Sure thing,” he replied, “but I don’t wanna take the place of old Sparky there!!!” Valerie reached down and gave the pup another scruff on the head and replied softly, “Don’t worry about that, it’ll never happen!!!” The night air was cool as the two sophomores wended their way across the quad to Valerie’s dorm on the other side of the gigantic campus, and even though they were just good friends, Dale slipped his arm around Valerie’s back and held her close while they chatted away about this and that!!! “Here we are,” Dale announced, “do you want me to see you all the way inside!?!” “That won’t be necessary,” Valerie replied quickly, “Sparky can take it from here!!!” Expecting as usual for Dale to give her a hearty good night, Valerie was a little puzzled when he was silent for a second or two before asking softly, “Val, could I please ask you a favor?!?” “Sure,” she replied brightly!!! “I-I’d like to kiss you good night!!!” Read more

It was a beautiful sunny day in Gloryville. I remember the hot summer sun shining on the vast ocean which lay before me. I remember thinking that nothing could be more beautiful than the Gloryville town beach that day, but I was wrong. About midday, I saw her. I saw her walking along the beach with a light summer shawl around her waist. She was far away, but I could see the sun shining on her golden blonde hair as if she had a halo. As she walked down the beach towards me, she stopped for a moment to talk briefly with each person she passed. After what seemed like an eternity she reached the spot where I was tanning. I tried to pretend not to notice her arrival, but it didn’t work.

“Beautiful day,” she said. “I sometimes wish every day was like this.” The sound of her voice reminded me of a small bird I heard singing earlier in the day. The sun was still shining brilliantly behind her. I could barely make out her face through the glare. “Well, man does not live on bread alone,” I said foolishly.
